I was born in Saint-Petersburg, the Russian Mecca of arts & architecture, literature, music, and theatre. Since my early childhood, among all fine arts, I have always given preference to painting. I could spend hours and hours at the museum, staring at the famous impressionists` masterpieces displayed at the Hermitage, surrendering to the tender power of soft pastel colours.
I am still convinced that my desire to capture moments of truth and happiness, that later turned into devotion to family and wedding photography, have grown from that very silent admiration. It was through digital photography, and afterwards through the magic of the film, that I rediscovered that artistic impressionist approach to colours.
